It’s that time again! This month’s Fiction in 50 prompt is…
…so create those mini-narratives in 50 words or less and link them up to the linky below, or leave the link or your finished work in the comments. If you’d like a more detailed description of the task, just click on that attractive button at the start of this post. Here’s this month’s linky:
And here’s my contribution – I’ve titled it….
Unremembered
They brought her out here often enough, though they knew it made no difference to her where she was. Sitting under the tree her fingers played over deep cuts in the bark.
G. K + T. M
A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it spark lit up her cloudy eyes.
And then it was gone.
Your turn!
The prompt for June is…
This is the final prompt for this set of six months, so it’s your last chance to suggest a prompt for our next set of six monthly challenges. Just pop your suggestions in the comments and I’ll do my best to squeeze them in.
Until next time,
Bruce

Oh goody! I love your entry, Bruce–very heart-moving. And mine is ready to go, after a brief moment of amnesia when I thought it was 100 words, not 50–cut-snip, done!

I don’t know why the Mr Linky deal is so problematic for me…is there a remedial class for stupid bloggers??

OK, this is the first time I’ve heard of this, but it’s intriguing! (And I love what you wrote, Bruce 🙂 )
So then, is “What comes after” the prompt? You don’t have to include it in your 50 words, it seems. I want to get it, but my brain battery is on about 10% full at the moment 😉

Yep, that’s right – you don’t have to include the actual words of the prompt (although you can if you want), just your interpretation of the concept. You’re welcome to join in – we love new players!

You got it!…
I couldn’t wait for this day to pass, to finally be free and get on with a life outside these walls. In so many ways I felt I was a prisoner. Now, as I toss my tasseled hat in the air, I feel an overwhelming sense of loss…and fear.

No reason to panic, it’s only (cue deep, sinister voice) THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!! Thanks for playing 😀

Okay, so the Linky deal says I’m on there–but there’s what looks like a trash can after it…..

That’s probably because I set it so that you can delete your link if you want to. I think. Thanks for joining in again 🙂

Thanks for clarifying–I thought maybe I’d been rejected/spammed within the first 5 minutes.

Yes, I thought I’d take a break from my usual frivolous cheerfulness. I’d also just finished reading a book about Alzheimer’s disease, so I thought I’d take my cue from that 🙂
