It’s nearly Australia Day (or Invasion Day or Survival Day, depending on your heredity and perspective – the Shelf offers respect and acknowledgement to the successes and struggles of the Indigenous mobs of this land) so that must mean it’s time to give away books! Thanks to Book’d Out for hosting this happy hop which runs from the 24th to the 27th of January.
I have a selection of Aussie print books on offer today and one winner from anywhere in the world will be able to take their choice of one book from the selection. There are picture books, YA and MG books and one adult fiction, including a couple of my Top Books of 2015. Click on the photo for my reviews of the books or the links to Goodreads. Here are the books the winner can choose from:
To enter, just click on the Rafflecopter link below – Ts and Cs are available at the link:

Good luck 😀
Until next time,
All of them are cute, but koalas are the cutest to me so they should win! :3

I’d say koalas (gold medal) and kangaroos (silver) 🙂

I feel embarrassed that I have to Google this holiday 😦 Also, I dont know many marsupials. I have failed you!
I’m obliged to go with koalas because they are the boys favorite. (I lean more towards the super glider 🙂 )

I love the solid, chunkiness of wombats.

I’m surprised there aren’t more cuddly toy versions of wombats around. They are certainly a huggable shape.

I would second you on the wombat, but I love all marsupials!

Numbats win for the name, but I have a soft spot for wombats. Did you know they can actually climb wire fences? (At least, the young ones can. I imagine larger ones would be a little heavy…)

Get out! I can’t even imagine how hilarious a wombat scaling a fence would look!

Sadly, I have not seen this myself, however the grandmother of one of my schoolfriends was a vet who specialised in native wildlife, so their backyard was basically a mini wildlife sanctuary full of somewhat neurotic Australian animals. I remember the wombat run had to have a fence that went up vertically, and then folded back inward at 90 degrees, because previous wombats had climbed the fence to freedom, but they couldn’t climb upside-down.
Obviously, there had to be significant below ground fencing, too. I don’t remember how that part worked.

Yeah I think I might be a koala, especially the opportunity to sleep all day – but I’d quite like to be a Big Red as well 🙂
PS I did my best with the National Anthem but had to do a lot of la-la-ing, and come back in for the last line. Sorry. Must do better.

I would also have to say the Koala. They are so precious looking.

I’d have to say 5 he winner of the marsupial cuteness pageant would have to be the Tasmanian Devil. I’m biased, being a tasmanian myself, but these little guys are kinda adorable. I just wouldn’t cuddle up to one.

Definitely a wombat 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity – Gun Control by Peter Corris sounds pretty good!

I will have to pick the kangaroo because they are big and gangly (kind of like my husband!). Happy Australia Day!

Koala’s look all soft and cuddly but a wombat always looks like it’s smiling so I’d say a wombat.
Happy Australia Day

Someone needs to throw quokkas in the mix, so I will. I bet they could pull off an upset one year in the Marsupial Cuteness Pageant. Great question and great books in your giveaway. Thanks and Happy Australia Day!
