Beach Reads in August Giveaway Hop!

Given the unseasonably warm winter we are experiencing here in Brisbane…warmer than our usual unseasonably warm winters, that is…it would be remiss of us not to join in with the Beach Reads in August Giveaway Hop, hosted by Stuck in Books and running from August 1st to 14th.

My recommendation for a recent release, relaxing beach read (if I enjoyed the beach that is.  I don’t.  Too much sand in odd places.), would be Siobhan Curham’s delightful The Moonlight Dreamers.  You can see what’s so great about it by clicking on this cover image:

But on to the giveaway!  I am offering one winner their choice of book up to the value of $15 AUD from the Book Depository.  My giveaway is open internationally, provided the BD ships to your country for free.  Other Ts & Cs are in the Rafflecopter.

  1. NZ had thin oz so sunburn is a really big risk, sun burn is worse because it lasts longer, you suffer for days where as sand can be washed off.

  2. I can’t stand my own beach. It’s dirty and there’s zero waves. No, thank you. Sand is the worst. Sunscreen can protect you from the sun if you use it correctly but there is no protection from the sand. Thank you for the giveaway and sharing my views on the beach.

  3. I can’t stand sand in all the ungodly places that it gets. I don’t understand how the sand gets where is gets!!!!!!

  4. Sand can and will be washed off. I’m allergic to most sunscreens, so, sunburn! I’m very fair so start to burn pretty quickly. When I was younger I got both sun and heatstroke at different times, which is just another reason why I hate summer and temps over 60 F.

  5. I would go with sand, its hard to get off and off of your clothes and things, I do get burn but it’s not so bad. Thank you for the opportunity 😊

  6. Sunburn for me is the more annoying factor. That’s why I usually only like to go to the beach at prime time. I like to walk on the beach, while watching the sun set and having a slight breeze blow in my hair.

  7. I’d ~thought~ that I successfully posted a (rather lengthy) comment here yesterday, but I don’t see it now… :-/

Oh well. Basically: SUNBURN. Oh, no no no. On my ideal “beach”, it would be snowing. And there would be mountains, and I’d be snowboarding. 🙂

  8. I mostly avoid the beach for other reasons: it’s too crowdy and there are always smokers somewhere near and I detest the smell of cigarette smoke.

  9. Well I live in a non beach state, so I do not go to the beach, but I am not a fan of sand, or heat, so hmm that is a toss up. But i think the sand would be the worst I really do not want sand where the sun does not shine!!! lol

  10. I don’t do beaches for both of those reasons (and also that there aren’t any beaches around here)
    Thanks for the contest.
